Applications of laminated safety glass
For the production of Scheuten Multisafe (laminated safety glass)/Multiphon (laminated safety glass with noise control functionality), two or more glass plates are compressed under high pressure, with special PVB film in between. Thanks to this film, the glass remains intact in the event of damage, reducing the probability of injury. The structure and thickness of the glass are tailored to the specific application. Scheuten laminated safety glass is used in applications when active (glass ballustrade, railings) and passive (burglary, vandalism) safety are required. Common applications include glass partitions, railings and roofs. This glass is also often used to produce thermal insulation glass.
The possibilities
By combining the type of glass and film layers, Scheuten laminated safety glass can also be used as protective glass for burglar-proof, bullet-proof or explosion-proof windows or doors. The application of PVB film gives Scheuten laminated safety glass many additional advantages. The film reduces harmful UV radiation by as much as 99%, which prevents rapid discolouration of furniture and other objects.
