Scheuten highly values the protection of the privacy of our (website) visitors and will therefore handle your personal data with the utmost care. In this privacy statement we inform you about the way we handle your personal data. We process visitors' personal data on our websites and in the context of our business services to customers.

1. Who processes personal data?

All divisions and sites of Scheuten process personal data. Where this privacy statement refers to Scheuten, this applies to all our sites, in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. 2. Whose personal data does Scheuten process?

Scheuten processes personal data of people with whom Scheuten has had a(n) (in)direct relationship, currently has, or desires to have. For example:

  • Customers and their employees;
  • Individuals of companies that show an interest in our products (prospects / leads);
  • Suppliers and their employees.

3. For what purposes does Scheuten process your personal data?

  • To be able to enter into and maintain a business relationship with you
    Without storing your personal data, we cannot supply you with glass and send invoices, or purchase goods and pay invoices.
  • Legal obligation / Archive purposes
    We are legally obliged to store personal data in support of, for example, recall actions to ensure your and others' safety.
  • For sending service messages
    We send so-called service messages both digitally and by postal mail (for example price and assortment changes, modifications in contacts or contact data).
  • For promotional and marketing purposes
    We send occasional newsletters to inform you of the latest developments within Scheuten and the glass market. You can easily unsubscribe by clicking on the unsubscribe link, which is included in every newsletter.

4. What personal data does Scheuten process?

  • First name, insert, last name and gender
    To be able to identify you appropriately and to personalize, that is, to address you correctly.
  • Company name and function. Your (preferably business) e-mail address
    So that we can communicate with you in an efficient manner
  • Company name, street, house number, postal code, city and country
    To correctly identify the business relationship with you (company and site).
  • Language preference (NE, DE, EN)
    So that we can contact you in a language that you understand best.
  • Area of interest (Insulation Glass, Projects, Base Glass)
    In order to make the information as relevant as possible to you, we keep your business area of ​​interest in order to be able to focus on what is important to you.
  • Type of company
    These personal data are also intended to make better selections and not to send you uninteresting information.
  • At which Scheuten site you buy
    Herewith we select the relevant people to address for location-specific information (e.g. change of account manager). As such, you will not be bothered with news from branches with which you have no connection.
  • Customer type (supplier, customer, prospect, staff, etc.)
    These data are also collected to send you the right, relevant information and not to bother you with uninteresting news.
  • Mobile number (business)
    When you participate in events organized by Scheuten (e.g. Tour de Scheuten cycling event), we can send you an SMS reminder on your business mobile phone.
  • Interaction behaviour
    To improve our information relevance and services we keep track of your interaction behaviour with our newsletters and website, to be able to analyse which articles are read the most. This allows us to improve the relevance of our news articles for you. See also our Cookie disclaimer.

5. Principles for processing

Scheuten bases the processing of personal data on article 6 under b of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), namely the performance of service contracts. In addition, Scheuten processes personal data to be able to comply with legal and tax obligations.

Finally, Scheuten sometimes bases the processing of personal data on Article 6 under f GDPR (legitimate interest). We do this, for example, if we process your personal data for:

  • Offering efficient services;
  • Improving our services;
  • Protecting our financial and professional interests;
  • Marketing purposes;
  • Securing and managing our properties and systems.

If your personal data are processed based on permission, you will be asked for permission separately. You can withdraw your consent at any time. The processing of your personal data up to the moment of withdrawal is legitimate.

6. Retention periods

We do not store your personal data longer than necessary for the realization of the purposes for which they are collected and processed. We also delete your data if it is obvious that they are out of date or by your own personal request. Previous retention periods do not apply when there is a legal exception, or if we need this information longer for our services or in case of a dispute.

7. Applicants

We collect and process data of applicants that are relevant to completing the application procedure. Such as information about the applicant's level of education and employment history. We process this data because we have a legitimate interest in being able to assess whether the qualities of the applicant match the job requirements. Personal data that we receive in the context of an application procedure will be deleted no later than 4 weeks after the finalization of the procedure, unless the applicant has requested us to do so at an earlier stage.

If the application procedure leads to an employment contract, the personal data will be kept for as long as this is necessary. For information about the processing of employees' personal data reference is made to the internal privacy policy for Scheuten employees.

8. How does Scheuten deal with your personal data?

We will take all reasonable organizational and technical security measures to secure your personal data and protect it against loss and improper use or modification. Within Scheuten, your personal data can only be used by employees who must have access to this because of their function and only within the framework of the tasks assigned to them. All our employees additionally have a duty of confidentiality.

Your personal data will not be sold or rent out to third parties. We can disclose your personal data to third parties in accordance with this privacy statement and applicable laws and regulations. We sometimes use the services of third parties (such as IT service providers and hosting parties) to process your personal data. These third parties act as processor for Scheuten. Your personal data is processed by our processors on secure servers within the EU. Scheuten has concluded processing agreements with all its processors in accordance with (European) privacy regulations.

We will not disclose your personal information to law enforcement officers, other government officials, or other third parties without a court order or formal government request in accordance with applicable law, unless Scheuten believes in good faith that the disclosure of the information is warranted.

If Scheuten shares personal data with an organization that is not subject to European data protection regulations and does not have an adequacy decision from the European Commission, Scheuten ensures that your personal data is protected by standard contractual clauses from the European Commission, which ensure that the parties with which Scheuten shares personal data observe the same or comparable protection standards as Scheuten.

9. Your rights as a data subject

You have the right to:

  • Information / inspection and rectification
    You may inspect which personal data we process about you and have it corrected or supplemented;
  • To be forgotten
    You can have all your personal data permanently deleted. In some cases Scheuten cannot directly comply with this, for example due to administrative (outstanding invoices etc.) or legal reasons;
  • Limitation
    If, in your opinion, we process some personal data incorrectly or unlawfully, you can have its processing limited (dependent again on administrative and / or legal exceptions);
  • Objection / protest
    If you believe that we use your personal data wrongfully or incorrectly, you can notify us (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter);
  • Transferability
    You can request your personal data to be transferred to other parties;
  • File a complaint
    If you believe that we do not act in accordance with the privacy legislation, you can file a complaint at privacy@scheuten.com. We hereby ask you to send as much information as possible about your complaint or question. We will handle complaints and questions and respond within four weeks at the latest. We do everything we can to provide you with the best possible service. Are we inadequately handling your case? Then you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP).

10. Final provisions

Scheuten reserves the right to change this privacy statement from time to time by posting a new version on our website.
The Dutch version of this Privacy Statement will always take precedent over a version in a different language.
